June 29, 2025, South Baltimore Brewery District Cleanup volunteers and trash heroes!

We had an amazing turnout on a sweltering hot summer day for our second quarterly 2025 South Baltimore Brewery District Cleanup! Over 70 new and familiar faces joined us to make an immediate impact in the community. The data collected on common types of litter will help inform policy work with our coalition to prevent litter at the source.

Volunteers collected a whopping 1,849 beverage containers and over 953 pieces of food packaging in a little over an hour!

Removing this litter from the environment keeps it from entering our waterways and also stops this litter from attracting more littering behavior, but we urgently need systemic policies in place to effectively reduce these and other common types of litter at their source. We will keep you updated on our work for a MD Bottle Bill (deposit-return system) and other proven solutions to reduce litter!

We are working with a broad coalition of anti-litter and water protection groups to build on our momentum to pass a bottle bill in Maryland.

As always, thanks to Baltimore Community ToolBank for partnering with us to provide supplies, to our incredible board members for organizing, to our small business brewery partners Pickett, Wico Street, M8, and Checkerspot Brewing Co., and to everyone who helped haul trash to ensure we left everything cleaner than we found it.

Donations help provide supplies for cleanups and directly support our work to educate and bring a coalition together around common anti-litter policy priorities. If you like what we do, please donate and share our message!
